Assistant Instructor

This program provides the skills, concepts and teaching experiences required to become a successful SSI Instructor. You will learn the SSI Teaching System and philosophy, how to assist Instructors during training and how to independently teach a variety of SSI training programs. Candidates who complete this program can earn the SSI Assistant Instructor rating.

Course Content:



  • Minimum age: 18 years of age
  • Divemaster Rating or Equivalent from a recognized training agency
  • 60 Logged Dives totaling 40 hours or more

What Do I Need:

  • Notepad/Computer/Ipad
  • Calculator, digital dive tables
  • Access to the SSI Training Standards
  • All personal Dive Gear, including Tanks and Weights


  • AquaTrec

Training Materials:

SSI Digital Assistant Instructor Materials. Complete Academic Sessions, Final Exam with a score of 90%, Candidate Water Fitness Evaluation and pass all requirements and evaluations for Practical Sessions. 

Training Dives:

  •  Open Water Training Certification Dives at a local location.

Class Fees:

  •  Include: Instruction, Instructor fees, Digital Online Science of Diving Materials, Certification & Digital Certification Card
